Learning the Art of Airbrushing is Easy

Airbrushing is fast becoming a niche for hundreds of artists. With a huge market for airbrushing services, it wouldn’t hurt to learn this very valuable art form. Luckily, modern day inventions and improvements to airbrush technology have this form of art a very easy talent to acquire.

Since airbrushing can be done on paper, walls, and clothing, you need to know which types of paint you can use in your airbrush.

Acrylic Paint

Acrylic paint is the best type of paint you can use in your airbrush. The reason for this is due to the ease of cleaning after use. Acrylic paint can be cleaned with warm water, versus other paints that need to be cleaned and re cleaned using paint thinner.

Water Colors

Watercolors are another great type of paint to use with your airbrush. Watercolors stand up nicely to T-shirts and paper. Watercolors are great if you are designing clothing, or creating a poster.

Gouache Paint

Gouache is a much more difficult paint to use. It is a water-based paint, but only professionals need to try their hand at this paint. If the artist is not careful, the paint could run since this is a slow drying paint.

It is also important that you know the difference in the two forms of paint. There are transparent and opaque. Transparent colors are often the best colors to use as they allow for better color blending.

As you can see, airbrushing has many different applications as well as many different available paints. You should stick with the paint that you are most comfortable with, and one that works with your current project.
